Meet Our Founder and President

Pitzer Digital, LLC is a media and marketing firm with locations in Neligh, Bloomfield, Creighton, Stanton, Greeley and Cedar Rapids. Carrie Pitzer founded the company in 2013 as it's president. She became sole owner after her divorce in 2022 and remains president today.
A graduate of Midland Lutheran College, she worked for the Norfolk Daily News for 15 years in a variety of positions, beginning as the assistant sports editor. She moved to news, where she was the associate news editor and entertainment editor. She then moved to online editor and digital sales manager and helped build the online presence and social media platform. In August 2013, she launched Pitzer Digital as a marketing company, where she built hundreds of websites and oversaw marketing campaigns throughout the Midwest. With her heart still in media, Carrie launched a digital-only news site on Jan. 1, 2014, the Antelope County News. It was the first digital-only media in the state. A few months later, Pitzer Digital launched the Knox County News online, then added Boone County News and Holt County News toward the end of 2014.
With ink running through her blood, Carrie added publisher to her title as she purchased her hometown newspaper — The Orchard News — in February 2016 and transformed it into the Antelope County News. Thus began a revolution in rural Nebraska media as she began merging newspapers by county to ensure each region would have a longterm news source. That year Pitzer Digital was named the Nebraska Main Street Network's Business of the Year.
In 2017, the Antelope County News was named the best weekly newspaper in the state. As the company has grown, the title of best in Nebraska has gone to only Pitzer Digital newspapers since that first award - six to the Antelope County News and three to the Stanton Register. As of 2025, that's a record nine straight top honors for Pitzer Digital's media division. Why Newspapers?
The media division has changed rural journalism thanks to a hyperlocal, online-first approach that utilizes social media to deliver high quality news content that is both accurate and timely. The media division oversees the newspapers - Antelope County News, Knox County News, Stanton Register and Cedar Valley News. Why newspapers when so much of the world is digital? Carrie believes they are the foundation of all small towns by providing accurate news that both engages the public and serves as a watchdog of local government. Her use of social media marketing for her publications has made the newspapers some of the most well-known in the state in any market. Carrie often refers to her publications as having old-fashioned journalism values with new technology and social media strategies. It's a recipe that continues to meet the hyperlocal needs of rural communities. Carrie is proof that newspapers run with that philosophy are flourishing — not dying. Print editions, social media and digital platforms diversify local newspapers and all go hand-in-hand to be successful.
The Antelope County News has earned countless honors, including the Laurel Johnson Sweepstakes award from 2017 to 2022 from the Nebraska Press Association, naming it the top weekly newspaper in Nebraska (of all sizes). It's won numerous awards from the National Newspaper Association. The ACN began as the state's first digital-only media and expanded into print when the company purchased The Orchard News in 2016. With just three years, the publication more than quadrupled in size. In 2019, the company purchased the Neligh News & Leader and the Clearwater Record-Ewing News and merged the three publications, creating one of the largest — and most successful — weekly newspapers in the state.
The Knox County News launched in 2014 as a digital-only media and expanded to print with the purchase of the Bloomfield Monitor in 2017. Already the largest newspaper in the county, the addition of the Creighton News in 2019 and Wausa Gazette in 2024 made the KCN also one of the largest in the state of Nebraska. The KCN has won countless honors from the Nebraska Press Association and has one of the largest social media presences of all Nebraska newspapers and competes for that honor with its sister publication, the Antelope County News.
The Stanton Register came to Pitzer Digital in unusual fashion. During the COVID pandemic, the former owners were closing the publication when Pitzer Digital — then owned by Carrie and her now ex-husband — stepped in to save the publication. In 2021 and 2022, the Stanton Register earned runner-up honors by the Nebraska Press Association in its top newspaper of the year contest. It was named best in its circulation division both years before winning best in the state the last three.
The Cedar Valley News is the newest publication in the Pitzer Digital family. It stems from a merger of the Greeley Citizen, Spalding Enterprise and Cedar Rapids Press. Again Pitzer Digital, wanted to save the Spalding and Cedar Rapids publications. With the latter not being a legal newspaper, the company planned to merge the two and form a larger legal paper. However, once the acquisition was announced, the Greeley newspaper was added to the mix, making the new Cedar Valley News a much larger publication to solidify that area having a long-term news source. The Cedar Valley News won its circulation division in 2025.
