Furstenaus Give $5,000 Donation To Neligh-Oakdale For Technology; St. John's Donates to Area Schools9/23/2013 A former Neligh-Oakdale Board of Education member gave a big boost to the district's technology recently. Galen Furstenau and his wife, Debbie, made a $5,000 donation that is to be used for technology for student use. The donation was approved by the Board of Education at last week's meeting. The Furstenaus have five grandchildren currently attending school in the district, ranging in age from preschool to the fifth-grade. All four of their children - Ryan, Cory, Kara and Kent - all graduated from Neligh-Oakdale. The Board of Education also approved a donation from the St. John's Good Neighbor Fundraiser. The $650 donation will go toward technology to Neligh-Oakdale. The Good Neighbors made similar donations to several other schools in the area. Superintendent Kim Lingenfelter said the school's technology committee will meet to decide how best to utilize the recently donated funds. The district also received $10,000 from Sargent Irrigation in August, which was used to purchase iPads and laptops. |
